How to play local multiplayer on Tetris Ultimate (video)

I posted awhile back explaining how to play local multiplayer on Tetris Ultimate on the Xbox One, and now I figured I’d add a how to video to make it even simpler.

The game doesn’t explain how to add additional local players at all, so it took me awhile to figure it out at first. Basically the second player needs to login and then they need to push ‘A’ to be added to the local party. Hope this helps you out if you were confused!

Amazon Prime is $72, today only!

Amazon Prime $72

I just found out about an awesome discount on Amazon Prime, effective today (24 January) only! To celebrate Amazon’s series Transparent winning two Golden Globes they’ve discounted the price of an Amazon Prime subscription to $72 from the usual $99. This $27 discount is a great deal for an incredible service.

I usually sign up for free trials of Prime when I can (especially around Christmas), however this marks the first time I’ve committed to an entire year of the service. The free two day shipping is awesome (and addictive!) but you also get access to Amazon’s video and music streaming services, which are pretty cool as well.

Head over to Amazon to take advantage of this discount while it lasts!

Worth watching: ‘Elders Play Grand Theft Auto V’

The REACT channel has quickly become one of my favorites on YouTube. With over 3 million subscribers and over 180 million views, REACT features videos where kids, teens, YouTubers and elders react to various subjects (videos, movies, video games, etc.). Their videos are quite hilarious, and their ‘Elders Play Grand Theft Auto V’ video released this week is no different.

Watch as the elderly let out their inner anarchists and laugh with joy as they mow down innocent civilians. Love it!

Girls Season 2

girls season 2 blu ray

I haven’t finished the first season yet (have three episodes left I believe), but I found a pretty decent deal on Season two on Blu Ray. It was $19.99 on Amazon and I had $20 in cash back credit on my credit card so I got it free! As I mentioned in the last post, I subscribe to HBO and do have access to all the seasons of Girls on demand, however I’ve been pushing the limits on my bandwidth cap lately so I decided I should watch the second season on Blu Ray.

girls season 2 blu ray

I haven’t bought a DVD or Blu Ray in years as I prefer to either download or stream everything I watch using iTunes or Xbox Video, but again I need to get my bandwidth use under control. Fortunately the Blu Ray pack came with an HBO Select code redeemable on the service of your choice. I redeemed it on iTunes (you also get a VUDU version) so it’ll be nice to be able to just go back and stream any episodes I wish to watch again later (I hate having to dig out DVDs, which is another reason I pretty much abandoned physical media).

Looking forward to finishing up season one and digging into the second season. Love the show and hope to catch up soon!

Looking forward to checking out Fantasy Life on 3DS

Fantasy Life cover

I finally picked up Fantasy Life today and I’m quite excited to dig into it sometime this weekend. I don’t know a whole lot about it, but I’ve heard that a lot of players who enjoy Animal Crossing also enjoy Fantasy Life, and I’ve heard it described as an Animal Crossing – RPG mix, which sounds appealing. It looks rather light hearted and seems like something I’ll enjoy while taking a break from Shin Megami Tensei IV (which I’m enjoying quite a bit right now!).

I set up my character and chose the Paladin life, but I haven’t left my character’s house yet. Looking forward to stepping out into the world! If you have any advice for a beginner, please feel free to leave it in the comments!

First Listen: Marilyn Manson’s “The Pale Emperor”

20150103020032!Marilyn_Manson_-_The_Pale_Emperor

Marilyn Manson’s new album, The Pale Emperor is out today. The album is his first since 2012’s Born Villain, and is an attempt to revitalize his sound, as described in the recent New York Times article “A Dark Prince Steps Into the Light” (Melena Ryzik).

The album starts off with “Killing Strangers”a slow and brooding track that sounds familiar, although I can’t quite place it (sounds like it’d be at home on The High End of Low).

After a quick first listen, the album is calmer than most and more reflective than angry, possibly a result of the aging artist (at 46 years old). I’m certainly liking the instrumentals on the album, however nothing is really standing out as a particularly strong song. The album ending, “Odds of Even” stands alongside “Killing Strangers” as my favorites so far, but I think The High End of Low will continue to be my favorite of the modern Marilyn Manson albums.

Have you listened to the album yet (available on Spotify and at various digital outlets)? What do you think?

Wanting to get back into HBO’s Girls

Girls_HBO_Poster

Last year I started watching the HBO series, Girls and thoroughly enjoyed it after binge watching the first four episodes. Then, for whatever reason, I drifted away and never finished catching up on the show. Now that the fourth season has started, and Lena Dunham has been in the news, on talk shows and featured in magazines a lot lately, I’ve had a desire to get back into the show.

I’ve noticed a lot of hate being spewed on the internet lately about Dunham, and I don’t quite get it. I think part of it is fueled by this ‘anti feminist’ fad that’s cropped up on the web lately, and it’s just not cool. I know some people find some of her admissions featured in her memoir (Not That Kind of Girl) “sick” and offensive, yet I still think she’s not only an interesting and unique person but her character is also enjoyable to watch on the show.

Now here’s my dilemma. I have HBO and can watch Girls on demand, yet I’ve managed to exceed my internet provider’s sad 300gb data cap for the last three months and keep getting notices that my rates are going to be increased if I go over one more time (what a joke). In an age when physical media just seems silly to me (I download all of my Xbox One, 3DS and PC games, and stream all my movies) I’m facing a hurdle to enjoying the content I pay for. I could buy the seasons of Girls on Blu Ray (season one is just $10 on Amazon), but I already pay for HBO and have access to the first three seasons already. So do I sacrifice Netflix watching? Forgo downloading a game this month? What a first world problem to have right now…

Anywho, I’m probably going to download the rest of season one on demand and then see where I sit with the bandwidth cap before I start season two. At any rate I’m excited to get back into the show! I’m also pretty sure I’m going to pick up her memoir in the iBooks store, because I’m quite intrigued by her and want to know more.
